SOLDIERS' BUSINESSES
ARRANGEMENTS FOB PROTECTION,. Regulations were gazetted on August 27 providing for the protection of soldiers' businesses during tno absence, of the men on active service. The Minister of Defenoo (Sir James Allen) stated yesterday that under these regulations arrangements had been made for the management of ii good man;, soldiers' businesses, but the number of soldiers' property boards of .trjjstpos appointed under the direction of the National Efficiency Boardwas not large. He hoped to see tho scheme expand in usefulness. The Minister mentioned that he had in his hand tho papers concerning one case in which a. soldier's business had been protected, and lie wished tnninko public somei.of the details in order to micournge other men who might be s?nt into CHinp to make arrangements for the conduct of their business.' The man in question had been a men's outfitter and retail boot salesman. The Efficiency Board had made arrangements with another outfitter to allow his assistant to take chars™ of the soldier's business uiidor tho direction of a board of trustees.'
