Dalgety ■ and Co. report that ;' prices for hides, as compared with last sale, were about tho same rate, while ! snper calfskins showed a slight increase. j : Tallow.values wore a shade better. ! Messrs. Murray, Eoberts and 00. report that they submitted a catalogue of 450 j , hides and 600 calfskins. Competition for 1 sound hides was animated, at fully equal to, last salo'B rates, cows showing a tenI dency to advance in price. Damaged and ■ inferior hides were rather easier. Oalf- ;■ skins showed an advance on recent high i rates, and the firm states that they se- !' cured'the highest price yet paid for a I superior lot of calfskins, at 22Jd. per lb. ! . Out and damaged calf were also firmer in | value. Tallow showed more 1 -demand at a I slight advance. j Messrs. Levin and Co. report that tho ! market was firm all round at last sale's ! rulings, except for all qualities of calf, I which sold readily at an advance of jd. , to- 2d. per lb. above the prices obtained I a fortnight ago.
