Oats are very scarce, and .the shortage I is' partly due to so much of the crop ! having been cut-into chiiff,'instead of I being thrashed. The turnover in chaff ; this season was the largest, despito the • .'shortage of shipping, that has taken place j since the year there was a.-large demand > 'from Australia on account of the drought Is there. There is'still a good demand for ! prime bright chaff for the North Island, i-where the ..weather, .has again .been;- very I cold and-wet- in parts. <"■ For prime, 1 bright' chaff ,up : . to; ,£7 10s.'per i ton at !'■ country stations is being offered. The ! quality of the samples submitted varies I considerably, and the bulk is inferior. ■ Byegrnss is dull.of.sale, as.the ; supply .is. i more than equal to tho requirement's. PrKed clover is firm, and is worth up to 'Is. 7d. per lb. at country stations, and ! white clover Is.-sd. to Is. Bd..
