SHOCKING TRAGEDY
A BABY'S EYES GOUGED OUT.
By Telegraph—Press- Association. Hamilton,' October 25. The Hamilton police have ' word of a shocking tragedy' in Naike, 'Raglan County. The details are meagre, but it is slated that a settler named Albert Morrine' gouged out the eyes of ftj vear-old baby girl'and then-ran away, > Mrs, Morrine rang up" Mrs.'.Griffin, * \ ■neighbour, who 'went*to the house. The man returned -later; and endeavoured to -enter the house through the doors ana windows, but the women prevented mm doing so, and telephoned to - a neighbour, who calile and secured him; ■'The-police, and Dr.-Martin, ofNgariiawahia, were sent for, and went out. Ino doctor attended the child, who waa brought to the Waikato Hospital.
