MEETING OP THE BOARD. Messrs. iff. Baldwin (clinirmnn), J Smith, ]?. Castle, 8.-G. H. Burn, W. ,T. Thompson, J. A. M'Ewan, G. Petherick, 0. M. Luke, D. Campbell, Eev. Dr. Elliott, Ecv. H. van Staveren, and Mrs. M'Vicar were present at yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable- Aid Board. • The following recommendations of tno Hospital Committee were agreed to:— That F. Neale be appointed to the position of fitoreman, and that ft youth as assistant be secured; that authority had been given to the- matron to spend iiSO for the purpose of providing. Christmas comforts for' the patients in the hospital; that the services of a motor mechanic be obtained at a salary of £1 10s. per week, he to bo one of the three drivers ; that Mrsi UTQiihart, who had been appointed by the Education Board to teach the children in the infantile paralysis ward, had resigned, and the board had been asked to appoint another leacher; that a masseuse who is now employed by tlio board be granted an increase of salary, bringing it up to JEI2S per annum, and be granted increases each sis months 'of JSS tilL" JC2OO per annum is reached (this masseuse does not live at the hospital); that Nurse Kendall, having passed both examinations, is leaving, and Nurse Murray is joining tho nursing military service; that; tho motor delivery van kindly lent the board by IT. D. Bennett, Ltd.. has now been returned, and that tho thanks of the.board be tendered that iirm for its use. \ ' Accounts were passed, as follow:—Wellington Hospital, ~£5680 3s. 4d.: Charitable Aid, £iW 16s. Sd.; head office, .£IBO Os. 8(1.; public health, Mils. 7d.: total, .£G3B2 17s. A. special sub-committco appointed to make a recommendation re the appointment of a manager for tho hospital reported as follow:—"The committee beg to report that after giving tho matter careful consideration it has now revised the duties of the house steward, and has to stnto that it is of opinion that if these duties are- fully carried out tho result should bo a gr'eai improvement, and should obviate the necessity of making a further, appointment." Tho report was odopted.
