GOVERNMENT PURCHASE IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, October 24. It is unofficially stated that in order to reduce the pnoe of meat in Sydney the Government is purchasing the whole of the stock slaughtered in the State abattoirs at Homebush and selling the mon* direct to retailers, thus eliminating tho middleman.—Press Assn.
