Luke, A. R. Atkinson, Colonel ,J. G. Hughes,- S. Kirkealdie, and. F. It-. Mather, were present at the' monthly meeting! ot the executive committee, of. the. Wellington- War. Relief Association, lield yesterday afternoon. ' A letter was received from Mr. K; .W. Shallcrass, secretary of the ■ Advisory Board, stilting that .it was nol'consideral necessary to' hold a conference of patriotic societies and associations this yoar, and indicated that it would bo necessary to reappoint delegates to the conference for the ensuing year. On the motion of Mr. C. M. Luke,. Messrs. 1.. O. Trinp (Wellington) and Hope..Gibbons'(Wahgar. nui) were reappointed delegates, 'the same gentlemen. Imvo aJso boon nominate<l by the. Palmerston North societies. ' A letter was received from the Soldiers'. Wives' Club for an extension of tlio rent .payment privilege for another six months. On inquiry being made, it was said that this club was carried oii.in r the "Charley's Aunt". Cliib rooms,,, in Courtenoy. Place. It was a place whero the wives of soldiers met and left their children whilst they did their shopping. TliP Indies of the Women's National Reserve also cut out and mado clothes' for the children. The work was quite a useful one, and would, bo still-more useful were its objects more- widely -known. The executive deckled to eoniamio the payment of<£l por week for another six months, and also empowered the Finance Committee to lake steps 'to see that the work of tin's club was innde known, to thofe who should be benefiting by it." Colonel J. G. Hughes, D.5.0., said that a creche of the land would be .1 real service to soldiers' wives, nnd the wives of returned soldiers, if they onl> knew of its. existence..'. The Finance "Committee showed.that tlje receipts and.payments account stood as follows:—War account, balance at bank. .£295 10s. 3d.; imprest account, .£7O 7s 5d.; total, £M Cs. 9cl. The. amount, invested .stands -at 472,507. Is. 10d.,.60 that the total funds' consist of that amount, plus the £M Cs. SU. above-men-tioned, plus i2fl"petty ensh; in all. .£72,893 Bs. 6d. The incomo for the month of. September- amounted to £!02 Us. 5(1., and the expenditure to .G992 9s. 6d.. Accounts nmounting to -SIOS 4s. 3d. were passed for payment.
