Christchurch, October 23. At Addington market there were generally lurge.r yardings of stock than the previous week, especially in fiit cattle- j and fat lambs, The heavy shower of i rain on the previous night will do a lot of good, but wns not sufficient to affect the market, as much more rain is yet required to secure a supply of the requisite i moisture in the Soil i.o carry over the '. summer. The demand for fat cattle was good, but the prices were hardly up to the previous week's high level. A buyer from the West Coast was operating. The ' yarding of fat lambs was double that of : tho previous sale day, and there was a keen demand, due partlv.. no doubt to ithe holiday next week. There was only a moderate inquiry for store sheep, wurners and hoggets selling better than ewes. ■ Fat slieep sold irregularly, but the prices on the average are about the same as ■ tho week before. There was little demand .for store cattle. Dairy cows'and i pics sold well.
