' Carterton, October 23. r : The forty-first show of the Wairarapa land JEast Coast P. and A. Society was ppened,at Carterton to-day. This popular 'fixture is ill-fated as regard weather, and again a good deal of rain fell. However, there was a fair .attendance, and if the clouxls lift 'before tojjnorrow everything should go off well. .{Taken nil round, the show is a good one, (though some of the sections have not filed as well as they might have done. Some very fine Ayrshires Were penned. The bull championship'jjoes to Mr; J.' Kyle, the Aokaute-re breeder, and Mr. C. "B. Morgan, of Woodvills/ showed the champion, cow. There was an excellent .show of Jerseys, Mid the competition resulted in a. triumph for Mr. ty.H. Booth, .of Middle Run. i A good .deal of interest was taken in the sheep section. Lincolns were strong in. quality and in,numbers. The judge said that the champion ewe shown iby the estate of the latj D. M'GreKor would be'.vesy hard to''beat. He ; odded that the same might be- said of tho champion, ram, also-shown by the M'Gregor .estate. He had a. good word to say for the , hoggets, too.
