INHOSPITABLE WEATHER
The bleak chill of winter returned to Wellington yesterday in the shape of a squally southerly that had evidently come lip from the polar regions with cm escort of icebergs. The morning broke iine, but during the forenoon wind and rain camo up from the eoutb, and the day was featured by heavy rain squalls, alternating with blinks of sunshine. Present indications according to the official report nre for high south-east to northeast winds, cold, cloudy, and stormy weather, rain probable generally, and snow on the higher levels.
