MILLER'S FLAT TRAGEDY

An inquest on George Rackloy, whs committed Buicide utter attempting to murder his wife, Mary Kuckley, was opened at Miller's Flat, and after formal evidence had been heard was adjourned. The police report shows flint the couple did not got on well together, ona doceased, who was in ill-health, left Ormaglade Station with the intention of going to Lawrence Hospital, then to Dunedin, where he intended to live with relatives. He returned to Ormaglade a fortnight after, and entered (ho cookhouse, where his wife was alone. She remarked, "3o you've returned." He replied, "Yes; and'l'll do for you now." He lifted a meat chopper and attacked his wife, inflicting severe injuries before she escaped. Haokley then went out and threw himself into the creek, but changed his mind nbont drowning, and lay down and fatally cut his throat. The wife is progressing favourably.
