RAILWAYMEN'S DEMANDS

A largely-attended meeting of tho Locomotive Engineers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association carried a motion demandin" a substantial increase in wages and increased rates of pay for long hours and night work. The extraordinary dissatisfaction existing m the locomotive running staff was. stressed, and failing to obtain redress, it was decided to take a vote with a view to more drastic measures.
The Cross Creek branch of the New Zealand Locomotive -Enginedrivers, I iremen and Cleaners' Association, at its monthly meeting on Monday, carried the followhW resolution: "That we demand overtime rates for night duty, and also an increased wage, and urge the council to u=f> every endeavour to obtain same.
