SOLDIER CAPTURES A GERMAN ■ STAFF.
An official American wireless message was received in Sydney on October 10 by, the. Consul-General for the United States, to the effect that an American soldier, Corporal 3?. Hubbell, of Toledo. Ohio, had, single-handed, captured ft German artillery staff, consisting of a major, three captains, six lieutenants, and 22 privates, on Mont Blanc. Corporal Hubbell, who is 30 years oil age, enlisted in January last. In tlio course of tho attack ho lost his detachment. He discovered a German dugout, mid demanded the inmates to surrender. A Prussian officer came out with a pistol in hand, but Corporal Hubbell covered Mm, and mado all the rest come out and surrender. Ho then marched them back to the cages.
