SEQUEL TO A QUARRY FATALITY

Two charges arising out of the recent fatality at Shiels's quarry were heard in the Police Court recently, when Henry James Harrison was charged that being the manager in charge of the quarry he failed to securely protect and make safe for persons employed therein a certain excavation in connection with the working of the quarry. Defendant was further charged with not carrying on the working of the quarry so as to prevent dangerous falls. Mr. Bartholomew, S.M., pave judgment to-day, convicting defendant on the second charge. A fine of £20 was imposed, with costs.
