SEDITION IN AUSTRALIA
DRASTIC MEASURE TO ROUND UP OFFENDERS BILL PASSED Sydney, October 18. The Legislative Assembly has passed tho Sedition Bill.—Press Assn. The scope of the Bill is defined iu tho schedule follows:—(i) Speaking and publishing seditious words, (u) I übiishincr a seditious libel, (m) Seditious conspiracy. The disqualification ispeoifiod iu Section 2 of this Act shall not with regard to the crimes sot out in paragraphs (i), (di), and (iu) of this 'schedule, be inourred whore the person charged is convicted only of sui intention to promote feelings of ill-will ana hostility between different classes of His Majesty's subjects. (iv) Having by word of mouth.or in writing, or in any newspaper, periodical, looks, circular, or othor printed publication, made , a statement advocating <r encouraging any action likely to prejudice- or discourage recruiting, or a statement advocating or encouraging any omission of action if such omission would be likely to prejudice or discourage recruiting, (v) Having attempted' to cause mutiny, sedition, or disaffection among any or His Majesty's forces or among tho civilian population. (vi) Having inoited to, .aided, or encouraged the commission of any crime specified iii this schedulo, or the carrying on of any operations for or by tho commission of any such crime, (vn) Having printed or published any writing which incites to, _urges, aids, or encourages the commission of any crime specified: in this schedule, or the carrying on of any operations for or by tho commission of any Biioh crime.
