LOOK-OUT TOWER AT LYALL BAY.

As last year's trial was po successful, additional free batluug facilities are to be extended to school children at the Te Aro Baths on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 2 o'clock to 4.30 o'clock during the period November .1 next to March 31, 1019, except during the period of the school holidays. The city engineer has been authorised to erect a look-out tower on thereof of the Maranui Surf and LifeSaving Chili's' shed on the Lyall Bay beach, the club being notified that the erection is being provided en the clear and distinct understanding +hat on all fine Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and public holidays during the swimming season, there will bo a responsible member of the club ■on duty in the tower. Alterations liav'e now been effected k> the Te Aro ladies" bath in the direction of filling up the children's bathing tank and covering name with a 10ft. platform. The bath floor ban also been reduced in depth immediately outside of the tank. An additional number of dressing cubicles have , been constructed, and the whole work now makes the ladies' bath very much more efficient, and provides additional conveniences much r.«;eded by the ladies and children. Substantial alterations and additions have been constructed at thu Evans Bay public bathing .sllicds, which will result in swimmers having almost double .tlie dressing accommodation previously provided. Increased charges for the hire of bathing costumes mid towels at the Te Aro Baths have been authorised.
