THE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
Tho Art of the Democracy of Japan was illustrated at the Art Gallery last night by Mr. G. K. Lomas, who showed an interested audience numerous examples of Japanese art in tlie form of oolour prints collected by him in the' East. To-night at 9 o'clock, Mr. Charles Wilson, librarian of the General Assembly Library, will give a short address on "The Relation of Art to the Home." The sum of £50 to £100 is required by the academy to enable the council to secure some new works by New Zealand artists, and elsewhere in this issue- citizens are.invited to contribute their help. Donations should be sent to the president (Mr. H. M. Gore), or to the secretary. Art Jovers are reminded that tho exhibition is drawing to its close. Ticketholders in the art union are notified that the drawing of the art union is postponed to Saturday at 9 p.m. Yesterday the gallery was visited in the morning by the Girls' College students and in the afternoon by those of Miss Baler's school.
