JIEFjTING OF ASSOCIATION, A nieoting of tho Wellington Return.ed Solttiers' Association was held last evening, Mr. J. u. Harper presiclmg. It was announced that t-lio club's appeal for funds w'lll be niade on Ucccmoer 6 and 7. The'appeal will take the '- shapo of a street collection on Decom- ■" ber C, and On tho following day—a v Sa'turday-ra sports nieoting will be 11 held at tho Basin Reserve. 11 ..Mr. A- Curtayno moved to rescind the following motion carried at a prea vious meeting:—"That tlio Wellington 3 ..Returned. Holdiors' Association Cominitteo be appointed en bloc . to. tako D over- and.control the,, work of ; the 0 House Committee.". ' Speaking '• to the resolution, Mr. c .Curtayno claimed that the functions of tho .oxecutivo of the association wore absolutely foreign from those "of the "» committee of the Clubhouse- Society, and the two bodies should bo kept sep.arate. y The carrying of "ihe rescinding r motion would in no way affect the 'work:of the civilian membors of. tho J Clubhouse Society. ••■'.- ; ■ .Mr.,R';-Yarrow secouded the motion. 1 ■ Mr. D. Seymour said he had only, •moved, the first resolution with the r view of. making tho organisation more efficient. The club and the association } existed to- .fulfil' the ; one purpose-rrto j' aid tho returned soldier in becoming t ,a useful member .Of -society. Public. 5 - money had been subscribed for the . club, and provided that money was be- ( ing expended in the, best interests of j the club, then the control of the club . should bo -handed over to tho associa- . tion, purely and simply. r The chairman ruled : that the points [ raised by Mr, Seymour wore-not'rble-i -vaht to the resolution before the'meet- : ing, as' they affected the constitution i of tho association—a matter which was i not set-down for discussion at the i meeting. Gough considered that the > 'existence of two controlling bodies only led, to. confusion, and it was for that > r'/flson that he maintained.there should i be only one administrative committee. ■ • The chairman pointed out that no ■••, advantage- would accrue by merging the 1 association committee into the House Committee.
