The quarterly meeting of the Thorndon Methodist Church .was held en Tuesday evening. The Rev. A. Reader presided over a representative gathering of members. The membership returns showed an increase of 63, making the total of senior aud junior members 348. A statement of finance was presented. The amounts for the various activities of the church showed substantial increases, especially in the missionary department. The circuit quarterly account showed a small debit, and arrangements to liquidate same were proposed for next quarter. Sunday school reports proved schools to bo making progress. Thankfulness was expressed that so many of the scholars' had responded to the appeal of the recent mission. Glowing tributes were given of tho mission lately conducted in the circuit by the Rev. Nal Trigge, and appreciative motions were 'passed with reference to' same. A unanimous invitation to the Rev. A. Reader to remain on the circuit for another year was extended by the meeting and accepted, subject to decision of conference.. It was also resolved to appeal 'to. Synod and conference to allocate a minister for the Karori portion of the circuit. Almost all present signified their intention of attending the!.conference to be held at r St. John's Church next week relative to Church Union'. JffeS6rs. H. P. i Mourant and J.
