■ • ; —« — . ' A SMALL LIST. The proceedings at the Magistrate's Court yesterday were presided over by Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M. For insobriety, Bertha Aston and Nellie Nelson were each iined_ 10s., in default, forty-eight hours' imprisonment* Two first ofFonders for insobriety wero each fined 55., in default twentyfour hours' detention. A soldier' named Arthur Watson Green was charged with having ns- ; saulted a woman with intent to commit rape. The offence was alleged to havo taken place on Saturday last. Mr. H. F. O'Lcary appeared for the accused, and Acting-Sub-Inspector I Fmerson prosecuted. After the hear- ! ing of evidence accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed in the sum of £150, one surety of tiiat amount, or two of £75.
