WAIRARAPA NEWS
A number of stock exhibits from the Wairarapa were taken through to the Hawke's Bay Show on Monday. Twenty-five new members were elected at a meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society on Saturday. A sum of £171 13s. 4d. was taken at the Masterton Patriotio Shop on Saturday in aid of the Red Cross funds.' : At a meeting 6f the General Committee of ,tho Masterton A. and P. Association "on Saturday, Mr. William Perry stated that he had-recently visited the Weraroa Experimental Farm, and was very much impressed with the experiments conducted there with grasses 'and plants. .' ' i The Masterton'A. .and P. Association has decided to delete tho knitting classes from its schedule. The Masterton public playgrounds were officially opened for play on Saturday. It is expected that fifteen boards will participate in the chess match between Wellington and • .Wairarapa, to be played on Labour Day, The Masterton A.' and P. Association has accepted an offer of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association ' of. a, gold medal for competition at the next show. Satisfactory entries have been 'received by- the Wairarapa P. and A. Society for the show to be held this month. '
