BOWLING
THE JOHNSONVILLE CLUB,
The Johnsonville bowling green was opened on Saturday bv the president, Mr. H. E. Harrap.\ There were present a number of lady visitors as well as representatives from other bowling clubs, in addition to the members of the club.
The president said he believed that the coming season would , be as prosperous as previous years, and that the game would be as much enjoyed, as a good deal of work, voluntary end otherwise, had been performed to rut the green /-'in good condition. Mr. Harrap also referred to the war conditions, which pointed to the enemy being beaten at no distant date, and ho hoped our boys would be in"the Dominion prior to the nest opening day, or that they would be on their way home.
Before calling upon Miss Harrnp to throw the jack, the president aeked those present to sinj* "God Save the King." The jack was then thrown, and the green was declared _ open. Play during tha afternoon consisted of links howling either for President or Vice-Presidont. The President's side won by a majority of 27 points. The .skips playing for the President were: Harrap, Nalder, Thompson, Pctrio. For Vice-President: Plimmer, Morgan, Harrison, and Taplin. Tho green was found to be in good playing order. The ladies handod round afternoon tea, and this waß muoh appreciated.
