'ENEMY RETIRING BEFORE THE ■ALLIES. London, October 11. An official report from North Russia dated October 6 states:—"The enemy strongly counter-attacked by river and land at Soletskaya, 170 miles from Archangel.' We beat off the enemy, and drove him up the river. In the Slienfcursli region, between the Archan-gel-Vologda railway and the Dwina, tho enemy is still retiring, followed up by Russians and Americans. On the Murmansk 'front the Allies, co operating from Knndalasbka, on the White Sea, 180 miles south of Mur-m-insk, drove tho invading patrols across the Finnish frontier, and cleared Northern Karelia.—Aus.-N.Z.
