HIS TOO-EFFICIENT WIFE
Mr. Albert W. Gray, a lawyer, of Riverside Drive, Now York, wlip is being sued by his wife for separation, has filed an affidavit in the Snprenie Court admitting that he left his homo abruptly as nlleged. "I did so," he explained, "because my homo life was such that it was paralysing ray business, stultifying my manhood, and wrecking my health."
Mr. Gray told 'the' Judge that there was too_ much efficiency' and commercialism in his home, his wife keeping account of every halfpenny spent, even for the maintenance of the cat nnd for postage and tram fare, and that ho was also compelled to account for every minute of his time. "For eleven years," he said, "my life was spent in detailing my business activities, explaining my movements, and accounting for penditure. of money I earned, even to the last penny. "1 was obliged to leave my home in tho morning at the hour stipulated by my wife. Iwas allowed the time considered by her necessary to get to ny office by the route of her selection. 1 was expected to remain in my offico until the hour fixed by m\ wife as suitable' for my leaving, when I v/as again regulated concerning tie amount of time necessary to get home and tat my dinner on the dot at a fixed inoment."
Mr. Gray added that his recreation consisted in making out, in his wife's presence, a written and detailed statement of his earnings and expenditure each day. including tram fare, lunch, rewspapers, cigars, and incidentals.
