October 8, 7 a.m

The' Third and Fourth Armies renewed, the attack this morning, the New Ze'alanders taking a prominent part in the battle. The South Island Brigade is in action on the right and the Rifles are on the left. Our engineers have bridged the canal at many places. The tanks are operating with our infantry. The barrage included smoke shells at one stage, and the attack is being supported hy, covering fire from the Wellington and Auckland ' companies. f -
