THJS YEAR'S DATES,

A notice in District Orders refers to f the annual Territorial camps. Group and unit commanders are instructed to get into touch immediately with chambers of commerce, farmers'- unions, A. and P. associations, employees' federation branches, labour unions, and employers' generally, and as far as possible ascertain their views upon the suitability of the times when the annual camps were held last year, and obtain any suggestions which _ they may dosire to make. All such opinions and suggestions are to be forwarded to District Headquarters not later than October 25, 1918. Camps will probably be held at Gisborne, Masterton, Wanganui, and Karori, and be conducted on similar. lines • to last year. Every effort should, be made to complete the musketry practices before tlie annual camps. The conditions appertaining to exemptions and the method of dealing with applications will bc / the same as last year. Applications for exemption should be forwarded to the group, commanders. The following courses, classes of instruction, exercises, etc., are to be carried out during the current year in the Wellington Military District: — District exercise on the ground without troops (three days), for senior Territorial officers, under the direction <f, the 1 Director of Military Training.

Voluntary (six days) course of'instruction for officers and n.o.o's (Territorial and Senior Cadets), preparatory to the; February examination for promotion. . Barracks at secondary schools. A voluntary (six days) course (including the examination) for Territorial and Senior Cadet n.c.o.'s going up for first appointment to commission examination in February. A voluntary district refresher course for acting-Staff Corps and Permanent Staff and selected regimental officers and n.c.o.'s of Territorial Force units going into annual camps (seven days). A voluntary (six days) course of instruction for' officers and n.c.o.'s of secondary school ■ cadet units.
