' WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION,

The annual meeting of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association was held lust evening, Mr. H. M. Gore presiding ovor a good.attendance. The aimuai report and balance-sheet were adopted. On the motion of Mr. A. G. Henderson, it was resolved to recommend the incoming committee to arrange a,j metropolitan championship and handicap tournament at Christinas, or New Year, whichever date is found suitable. Mr. R. A. Howio moved that it be a recommendation to the committee to resume- the playing of inter-club matches. Mr. G. A. Hurley, while in favour of the proposal, urged that from a financial viewpoint, care should be taken with regard to the issue of balls. After brief discussion, the motion was carried.

It was moved by Mr. Hurley that in intqr-club competitions the entry of mixed teams of ladies and gentlemen be permitted. Several speakers opposed the proposition on the ground that its adoption might mean that some clubs might not be able to enter the competition on account of not having a sufficient number of either gentlemen or ladies to mnke up teams.

Mr. Hurley stated that after hearing the remarks of the various speakers ho could see that hie proposal was not practicable, and he withdrew his mo-, tion. '

The meeting passed a vote of sympathy with the relatives of those players who lind laid down their lives in the war. The motion was carried by the members stauding.
