ON HISTORIC GROUND
NEW ZEALAND MOUNTED MEN IN PALESTINE
The Now Zealand Mounted lliflcs Brigade hi Palestine, whilst in rest for tlireo weeks at Solomon's Pools, near Bethlehem, held a .sports meeting. Tho meeting, which was held en August 14, was a, great success, tlio competitions, being keenly . contented. The chairman or' the Sports Committee was Jlajor Wilder, W.AI.R., and the secretary whs Lieutenant l'\ L. Jlm'ra.v, lOcti C'.JI.H. The following visiters were present at the- gathering:— Lient.Cieneial Sir ■Philip Clietwoodo, commanding. 20th Army Corps; MajorGeneral Sir E. W. 0. Chaytor, An'zac division; Brigaclicr-Gent-ral Melclnini, X.Z.M.R.. Brigade; and Brjgadier<ciieral llyrie, ind A.L. Horse Brigade.

On the recommendation of the judges a special prize was given 1o the Mounted Field Ambulance for their Mounted Section, as the judges decided thoy could iiofc be judsed with sections carrying rides and side-arms, home.
