' _ At a general meeting of the Wellington District executive and the Dominion Representative Committee of the Women's National Reserve, the folio-wing resolution was passod for submission to and consideration, of the several executives of the-' reserve, in the military districts of Auckland, Canterbury, Otago, and Wellington", also of the executives of centres, and subcentres, and local branches constituted within , the four main districts mentioned,:— • , ' ; ■' "That if the 'great war , continues it is considered necessary and desirable that a conference , of representatives of the reserves throughout the Dominion be held during'the mouth, of Fejbru- ■ ary, 1919, at a date to W'Eeroafter fixed. That each of tho four principal central executives may f .'appoint three delegates, and the several subcentres two delegates to attend tho conference. The main objects for tho consideration and determination by the' .conference to he-as .follow:— . / "(1) The establishment of a leprescn- , itative Dominion council. ; "(2) Tho reconstruction of the constitution to meet;tho widesprea'ding re-, quiremeiits of the organisation.' Tho furtherance of its patriotic , objects during the war activities, so bringing into better effect co-ordination and co-opera-tion throughout the reserve in nil its branches; , . i "(3) To frame such general niles for guidance of all divisions yet affording and maintaining, fully tho independence of each, of the principal four districts in the administration of its own affairs financially, patriotically,' and socially. "(4) Provision to ho.|made,in' the' general rules for the constitution v.ndcr 'their own committees. and by-rales of (a) Tlio active' reserve division; (b) the honorary' reserve division; the Soldiers'* AVives' Club . Division; (d) war emergency division; (f)-rifle clubs; (g) soldiers' graves sections: (h) girls clubs and juvenile branches."
St. Mary's Bazaar,; .'.' ' ;; ; ;. 'Signer Cappelli- charmed his audience last evening at the largo chamber, of tho Town Hall, on tho occasion of St. Mary of the. Angels Bazaar.. The tenor was in fine voice, and rendered "Lolita, La Matinata'.'■' (Leon : Cavalla), and "La'Doniia.e Mobile". ("Rigolettd") in splendid style.' In collaboration with Madame Bice Oappelli he rendered the "Misorere'j from ."H Trovatore.": The itelns won 'deserved- applause. ■ An edliibition by-..pupils of Missel. O'Leary found, favour with the audience. The.reel o'—-Tulloch, Irish jig,-Highland fling, 'Highland reel, and sheantrubhas r were inclwled in her- programme.. ; Miss ;K. O'Brien also gave an attractivo exhibition of dancing. The queen competition showed tho Hibernian Qiieen in. tho lead, followed by the Altar Society. Queen, the Hostel Queen, Sweets, Children of Mary, and Brooklyn Queens in that order. This afternoon a floral fete will be held at tho Oriental Bay Kiosk, and many and varied attractions are promised.. . , .'.. • ' i . iA big matinee for the children will be held on Monday afternoon. Bran tubs, Punch and Judy shows, hurprise packets, and all the delights dear to the juvenile heart, will be in 'fill swing. All children are to be admitted free.
In connection with Miss Gladys Campbell's entertainment which is to take place in the Opera House on October' 24,-25, and. 26, a meeting of inothers df her pupils was held in the Sydney Street Soldiers , Club yesterday morning. * In spite of the bad weather the attendance was good, arid many promises of sweets were received. It has been decided that the mothers will provide and sell sweets on , the opening night of the season, not on the second night, as'originally arranged. Promises of sweets will he gladly received by the Jion. secretary, Miss Port, telephone 395, or by Mrs. G. Earle, Mrs. Guy Powles, and Mrs. E. Hndfield. Another meeting in connection with the matter will be held. Miss Campbell,- who attended yesterday's meeting, reported that tickets are selling well, and that there is every . promise of another successful ( season. ■Their Excellencies propose to patronise the enter-tainment. ' The proceeds will lie dnvotetl to the Countess of Liverpool Fund. . After expenses are pnid the balance, from the two other nights will also, be devoted to' ;v patriotic fund or society.
Lust year Miss Campbell presented £380 to the Countess of Liverpool Fund, and as the forthcoming entertainment is as excellent and bpnutSful as all Miss Campbell's entertainments in the past have been, a substantial donation is anticipated by those interested in the Town Hall and other patriotic work. Miss Campbell's pupils are working whole-heartedly for tho good cause. Among them are many who are great favourites with the public, and many who aro now to tho public.
