THEIR LOST COLONIES
SPEECH BY DR. SOLF
(Rec. October. 3, 7.30 p.m.)
Amsterdam, October 2. Dr. Solf, lecturing at Munich, said that the national importance of the colonies could not be over-estinv.ilod. Jhe present substitutes for raw mawere insufficient for peace lime. The German wool requirements alone meant the product of fifty million sheep, which was practically impossible at home. Raw materials wore Germany's weak point in world economy, hence, the. colbnies must be retained to prevent lier commercial isolation. The policy of the open door .must be one of the most important peace demands. The Imperial Government adhered firmly to its demand for the retuni of tlw African and South Jea possessions as well as fresh partitowns in Africa, so as to consolidate Wprmany s scattered possessions..—Reuter.
