CAPPELLI CONCERT SEASON
ANOTHER FINE PROGRAMME,
The second concert of the Capp'jlli season was attended by an audience highly appreciative of the very fine programme which the distinguished Italian operatic tenor and the company associated with him presented for their delectation. The programme was opened with the celebrated aria, "l'vo Peccatis," from llossini's "Stabut Mater," , sung by Signor Lucien Cesaroni, the basso, and was deservedly encored, when the singer responded with Schumann's charming "I Will Not Grieve." . I Signor Cappelli, who was in very fine voice, opened with a bracket from Donizetti and Puccini—"Una Fuvtira, Lagrima,' , from the famous "l'Elisir I'd' Amore," and "E Lucevan le Stelle," from the latter's opera, "Tosca."-Hc-sponding amiably to insistent' recalls, the tenor added ftizets "Flower Sons," from "Carmei," "Lolita" (Buzzia Peecia), and Verdi's "Questn o Quella" from "Rigoletto," After the interval Signor Cappelli delighted his audience with a. magnificent rendition of Gounod's celebrated "Salut Demure" ("All Hail Thou Dwelling"), f rom "Faust." adding an "improviso" from Giordaiice, and," in response to recalls, 1 "La Donna o Mobile" and "Mattinata." , ■ . Signor Cesarom, who made a welcome" reappearance in the second part, was heard with fine effect in Verdi's "Ella Giammai M'Amo" (from "Don .Carlos"') ami in a bracket of encore numbers, "Obstination" and "Until." Miss Nntnlina M'Callum sang with- pleasing expression and effect Deaza'H "Mfiy Morning" nnd Gounod's "Ave Maria," with flute oliblignto by Mr. John Amadio, adding "I Know a Lovely Garden," "Bird of Love Divine," and "Wake Up" in response to appreciative recalls. Mr. John Ainndio's brilliant and always enjoyable artistry with the flute added a finish to an escollont programme. His numbers were "Evening Song" (F/liel Barns). "The Butterfly" (an etuclo from Sobathcl), a delightful fantasia on the old French air • "Rousseau's Dream," and by way of encores Mendelssolin's "Spriiiß Song," a ' Spiinnli Dance," and "l'lllusion." Mr. Harold Whittle was an acceptable accompanist. TliK final conceit of the season will be given to-night, when Siffiwr Cappelli's programme will be enhancedJ,v the reniißSt numbers "Spirito_ Gentii" (Doiiize'tti) and the, great aria from "1 Pagliacci," "On AVith the Motley."
