THE WEATHER —0 FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for strong northwest to south-west winds, and equally and unsettled conditions, with rain generally. Barometer unsteady, but ' rising soon in the south. The barometer has fallen, and freshening; northerly to westerly winds have prevailed to-day. Tho rainfall last month totalled 4.28 inches, covcrins a period of eleven days. The maximum rail was 1.65 inches on September 6. Grcytown, October I—Dull. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. "E.H."—The period is three years on active service. A soldier is placed on active service- just before departure from New Zealand. "M. Young."—No order has been given, for the re-examination of Second Division men _ classed. C' 2. Probably these- men trill not ho reexamined, but they are not regarded as finally exempted from service.
