Mastarton Wedding. Miss Alice M'Master, youngest daughter of Mrs. Duncan M'Master, of iiatawhero, was married last Thursday to Mr. Gillios Baird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Baird, of Hastings. Tho wodding took place in the Lausdowuoj Church, which was prettily decorated for the occasion by the friends of the bride.. The Bev. P. Halliday, M.A., officiated. The bride wore a smart tailored costume of white cloth, a hat of rose-pink taffeta, trimmed with roses, and • her bouquet was of piuli carnations and sweet peas. Slio also wore some white heather, ivhich was specially brought for her by Sir Walter Buchanan. The bridesmaid (Miss Ina M'Konzif) wore a ■ wedgewopd bluo tailor-made a black'hat, relieved by touches o£ pink, and she carried a bouquet of phle piifk sweet peas and carnations. Sir. K. N._ Baird 'was the best man, and the bride was given away by her/brother (Mr. A. P. .M'Master). A'reception was held at tho house of the bride's aunt (Mrs. W. H. flosking), when the wedding gifts were 011 view.. The house , was just a mass of lovely : spring blooms, and tho tabic was decorated with 'frcosias and pink stocks. Mr. and Mrs. Baird left in a motor-car on a visit to The south. Naval Dependants' Rotiof. "The sub-coniroittec'of the Wellington Ladies' Auxiliary of the Naval Dependants' Relief resumed work a few weeks ago in the premises on Jervois Quay, used last year for the same purpose, .and kindly lent by the Wellington Old Navals' Association. Grants of £20 from the General Committor-, and £3 from the Ladies' Auxiliary, as well as a donation of £'5 from . Lady Stout, have' provided material, principally flannelette, for cutting into garments to bo sewn by girls of the State schools. About 300 garments have lVch asked for, and to date 187 have been given out. Miss Phoebe Myers is again helping by circularising and receiving replies from the schools. Two cases of clothing have tan dispatched for transport to England, and two more are ready. Tho cases sent contained 145 garments, and were valued at £21 10s. 7d. .Again, tlio country districts have promised help, and already ifonr bales and casps have been .'received ifronr the Eaotihi l'atriI otic Guild and .the Bed Cross Sewing Guild,; Shannon. Mesdames Chapman, Eichelbaum. and 'l'audy, and Miss Aclicson have sent garmonts, whilst Mesdames Wallace, Unvin (2), and Misses Tulloch and Dupin have i'endcr- | e.l good assistance in cutting out. Properties have been loaned by the St. John Ambulance Association, and the Singer .Co., while gifts h'avo been made by. tlio 1).1.C.,' Wellington liux ■ Co., Messrs. E. W.. Mills and Co., and Messrs. Bethune and Co.' The boys of tho carpevitery class, under: Mr. Alexander '.Graham, instructor nt the Technical School, fitted up cupboards, and the Colonial- Carrying Company' kindly .convey goods free of charge. The committee appreciate those many kindnesses. The cash . receipts were £30 25., tho whole of which has been spent 01:1 'flannelette, cotton, etc. Letters of thanks and appreciation have l/qen received from/many' parts of Engl;i7id, -whero last year's clothing was distributed. Copies <ii these letters were made and forwarded to supporters in city and country. - The J joval Naval Friendly Union of Sailors' Wives, London, of which; Lady Drury, wife of"Adinirnl Drury, is hon. secretary, will receivo much of the clothing being sei)t.
Mr. Isui Simson (Mayor of Hastings) and Mrs. Simson arrived in Wellington on Saturday for tho purpose of seeing their son, JMiglit-Licatenant- K. Siinson, who is leaving for England on aetivo service shortly.

Mr. and Mrs. Sandford wore entertained by the settlors of Newman on tlio eve of their departure for Palmerstoii, and wore the- recipients of parting presents from the residents of the district.
Mrs. Donald M'Kinnon (Tonogio, H. 8.), is on a visit to town.
Mrs. Alan Cameron, who lias been staying with Mrs. Sladdon at tho Hutt, luls returned to Castlepoint.

A vory enjoyable evening was provided for tlio sailors in port by tho Rev. Mr. Reid and a party from tho Lyall Bay Methodist Church at tho Sailors' ijest on Saturday night. Various parlour games were indulged hi, as well us songs and recitations, and the singing of well-known hymns. Light refreshments 'wore handed round, and bofore a delightful evening's enjoyment had been brought to a close tlio Hov. Mr. jlfiid and Mr. D. M'Calhini, , president of the society, gave tho departing sailors some good and wholesome words of advice. Arrangements are bei/ig made to have otber social evenings at frequent intervals for the benefit of sailors visiting the port.

A highly-successful concert, under the auspices of the Wanganui Ladies Committee of Lady Liverpool's Maori Soldiers' Fund, was held in the largo noeting-housq at Jerusalem, ou the Wanganui liiver, on, _ Tuesday last. Some two hundred -visitors from various parts of the district wero in attendance, and the largo niidienco was most enthusiastic in its appreciation oif thi excellent hill of faro provided. The Native children, iu their numerous and varied items of song aud danco, gavo a very orcditable account of themselves, and reflected the highest praise on the tuition given hj the Sisters of Compassion .. A war- dance by the men an:l poi dances by tho women wero the contributions of' the local adult Natives. The concert was followed by a patriotic danco, in which a goodly number oi"pakehus took part. Tho committee hopes to •he able to forward to the patriotic 'fund a very substantial buid. Tho engagement is announced, of Miss Ida Stevenson, oi'ily daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Stevenson, Wanganui, to Lieutenant H. R. Beauchamp, D.C.M., Timaru. The bride-to-be is extremely popular in Wangamii, and her marriage, coming as it will so rioou after that of her brother, Lieutenant Russeil Stevenson , , promises to bo qujte an event, RED CROSS APPEAL A sum of £1000 forwarded by the Jlarton lied Cross Society added over four miles and a half to tuo Wellington copper trail last week. 'There wero several other largo donations. The managers of the.trail wish to,thankthe Uycle and Motor- Supplies Company, Ltd., lor selling a motor bicycle on behalf of the fund and donating the cost of repairs and other expenses.
