The Karu (Union Company) is to sail to-day for New Plymouth and Greymoutb, taking cargo. . The Lyttelton offlco of the Union' Company advises that the Kowhai has been diverted from Wellington to the West Coast. There will be no passenger steamer arrivals at Wellington next week from Sydney, as the Rivcrina is making the trip to Auckland. She is to return to Sydney from that port at 9 p.m. on Thursday. The Kamona will leave Wellington on Tuesday with transhipments for Auck. land. The Calm will sail this afternoon for Wanganui.. taking general cargo. It is-cx. pected that she will leave Wellington about Wednesday for Bluff direct . Tho Alexander, which is sailing to-day, will proceed direct to'Wcslport and Grey, mouth. Messrs. Johnston and Co. advißfi that as the Ripple is going on the slip for overhaul on Monday, sho will not raako her U6ual trip to Napier and Gisborno next week. Tho Kahu will, however, be loading for Napier on Monday, and it is expected the Koulunui will bo here later ill tho week to load for Gisborne. The Kahu should also be back in Wellington to load again for Napier on Friday As from Tuesday next Die Lyttelton ferry steamers will sail from Wellington at 4 p.m., half an hour later than now. To-day's projected departures, Include the Tainui, for Lyttelton, and the John, for Timaru, Oamaru, and Lyttelton, Gen-eral-cargo is being taken by both ships. The- schooner Fsurburn, with explosiveß, from Auckland, is due to arrive at Wellington any timo now. From Wellington she will go to Dunedin to put out the remainder of her cargo. Tho Stella will to-day leave Wellington with a of scrap iron for Dunedin. After discharge she will load a cargo of timber for Melbourne, from which port she will go to Sydney. There she will load a part cargo of explosives for Greymouth, and a quantity of steel for Dunedin. The wages ruling in American ships have increased considerable- during the war. The following, says an exchange, are the amounts paid per month to the crew of an American schooner that ■ recently arrived in New. Zealand:—Master, £50; first mate, £30; second mate, £27: A.B.'s, £16. Mr. W. n. Brewer will to-day dispatch the Tfuia for New Plymouth. The Baden Powell, which is due here on Wednesday from Greymouth, i 6 to go on the slip for overhaul. . Messrs. Levin and Co. were yesterday advised that the Rarawa. was on Thursday afternoon unable to cross the Manultau Bar for New Plymouth. She got out yesterday afternoon, and is to leave New Plymouth Breakwater at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
