Oats are also very scarce, and tho sale of , 1000 bushels of Algerians at 55., and 500, bushels of Gartons at ss. 3d., at country stations, during-the week is v tho only business between grower and , merchant recorded. Oatsheaf chaff is wanted if of prime quality, and up to £7 10s., at a handy station, is offered. A shipment of U,COO sadfcs to Napier by collier, temporarily has relieved • congestion' of supplies somewhat, and a further shipment may bo' arranged by the same steamer. The potato market has' shown a little improvement, no doubt owing to the absorption of Australian supplies.' There are a' few more inquiries and somo sales have been made. Buyers aro now <-f- ; 'ferine'£B ss. to £8 10s. at country stations, but there are not many offering as growers are holding pretty firmly. There is noi much inquiry for maincrop seed potatoes, and they are worth from £4 Bs. to £6 10s., according to variety, at country stations. There is still a fair demand for seeds for spring sowing. Turnip seed, especially Imperial Green Globe, is rather scarce.
