POLICE AND DEFENCE CASES
Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., conducted a sitting, of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. • '.!.■■.. For breach of a prohibition order George Hurley was fined £3, in default; .seven;-; dayV imprisonment, and George Coiiroy was convicted and ordered, to come up for sentence'when called on. '1-ho mother of- -Percy-..Grantham- applied 'for'a'"prohibition order to be issued against her son. Tbo, Court
granted tho request. ' ■■ ■ George King'was ordered to pay costs totalling 16s. 4d. for having used indecent language in a public street. For-insobriety, Hugh Gill was. fined 10s., and Ada D'Beere was remanded for medical treatment.
For failure to' attend drills the following were fined:—-W. Achison, 10s., and costs; Albert Edward O'Neill, 10s., and costs; J. S. Greig, £1, and costs; J. Fitzgerald, 10s., and costs. ■Leon James Gray'-'was. convicted: v of having usedobsceno language and was fined £2.' A remand till October 2 was made in the case of Henry Pearce, who was charged with the theft of a bottle of wine, valued at 4s. 6d., the property of" the Wellington Harbour Board. Francis Patrick Casey was convicted and ordered to come up for "sentence when called ou respecting a charge that he stole a piece of carpet belonging to the Defence.. Department. Casey said that the carpet had been thrown out on' a rubbish heap, "and he saw no harm in taking it from there. The Magistrate said that, the explanation seemed to bo moro or less reasonable.
