A DENIAL
Sir,—ln your issue of to-day you report Mr. C. \V. Tanner as having stated that at the commencement of this by-election he had written to the Labour Party, asking permission to put his views before them, and the reply hfi received was "that he would be wasting his time by appearing before a Labour meeting." To tins statement I want to give an emphatic denial, as at no time has the Labour Party ever, received any communication from Mr. Tanner to address them, and itf ha has done so then I challenge him to produce the letter and the reply received thereto. —I am, etc., E. KENNEDY, Secretary, 'Wellington Labour Representation Committee; September 26.
