MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

A meeting of the Mirwnar Borough Council was held last evening. The Deputy-Mayor (Mr. S. H. Underwood) presided, and there were present Councillors H. K. Robertshaw, W. H. Green, M. Tracy, and C. A. Chapman. The board of Scots - College wrote asking for remission of rates on the land (4 acres) to be occupied by the college. . ' There. Was some discussion on the matter,'it' being pointed out that until the buildings were used for a school there could bo no remission of the rates. The council decided to reply 'to that effect. Messrs. Young, Neave, and Courtenay wrote submitting a draft by-law dealing with wandering stock,- and amending the existing by-law, and thus bi'ingiiif it into line with the city by-, law. Tlie council approved the by-law, which will come into force as soon as the legal formalities are complied with.
