LATE MR. R. FLETCHER
REFERENCE AT HARBOUR BOARD,
At last evening's meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board the chairman (Mr. 0. E. Dunibll) made reference to the loss the board had bustained in -the death' of the. !ato Mr. Robert Fletcher, M.P., and moved: "That we, the chairman and members of the Wellington Harbour Board, desire to convey to' the widow and relatives of'our late colleague, Mr. llohert Fletcher, M.P., our sincerest sympathy with them in the bereavement they have sustained by his untimely death. We deeply regret tho loss of an esteemed fellow-member of nearly thirteen s years' standing, and hereby resolve to place on record our appreciation of the high value of the untiring and unselfish service rendered by him to the Port of Wellington throughout the whole period of his membership, including his fivo years' continuous tenure of the' office of chairman." 1 i. , In moving the motion, Mr. Daniell said that when recently/Mr. Fletcher had presented a photograph of himself to the board, he had made reference to the work he had done during his long term of office as member and chairman of the board, and it could be taken that he repeated what he then said. . Mr. Maurice Cohen, in seconding the resolution, said :that the late Mr. Fletcher was an outstanding/example of one who had, risen from.the ranks to become a distinguished member of tlio board, and in applauding the excellent service .he had rendered the country member could not fail'to recollect tho ready ear he had lent to their interests.' The resolution was passed in silence, the members.of the board standing. A copy of the resolution-was ordered to he forwarded to Mrs. Fletcher.
