After a fair forenoon yesterday tho weather took a turn for the worse, and lipavv rain fell in Wellington during tho 'afternoon- and evening. Present indications are for strong north-west •. to eoutli-wcst winds, cloudy and un- ■ settled weather, and rain generally. ■; The barometer is unsteady.
Private Harold Phillips (died of ( wounds) was the third son of Mr. W. H. Phillips, of Sherry {liver, Westlarid. He was an old boy of Nelson College, leaving the institution to join the Cus- j toms Department in Wellington, being afterwards' transferred to Greymouth, , where he remained for sis years. /
