The Institute of Bankers has issued the results of tho April examinations, and the list is parvicularty interesting as regards the position held by women clerks, states "The Queen." They prove emphatically that many women, anyway, who have released men for the fighting forces in this way,* are taking their new.work very seriouely; that, indeed, it is no mere war-tiiui occupation but a profession. It is trut that no women appear in the final lisv. for there has hardly been timo .ye, sinco they first took up the work to gain this distinction; but the successful women candidates in the preliminary examination of-the institute number a very fair proportion indeed. Banks from all parts of tho country are represented, and the list altogether proves interesting reading. So, naturally, does a similar one issued by the University of London, the pass list in the second examination for> medical degrees. The , second part, for internal and external students., shows how important is the part which women are destined to' play' in the rhedical service of the Empire, for out of fiftysoven successful candidates thirty-five are women medical students.
