DEATH OF ONE OF THE INJURED MEN. By Telegraph.—PreßS Association. Taumarunui, September 24. Borthwick, who was injured in the Okahu tunnel explosion, has six children. Kitto, who had been twice wounded at the war. was shockingly iiiutilated in the loft arm, leg, and face. Ho had one eye !;lmvn clean out, and was- totally blinded. Kitto died at Taumaruiuii Hospital this morning. Bortlnyick sustained injuries to his face with pellets of paper, liko shots from a gun. Roth eyes wero injured He is at present blind, and may become permanently blind. He has no body injuries.

There are two stories of the accident —one that in drilling the men struck an old charge; the other that a charge misfired and they went to investigate.
