STRIKE OF WELSH MINERS

'A striko in South Wales, as tlie result of sectional trouble lait'ecting only a hundred men who were discontented with their recent five shillings award, has thrown nine thousand men out of employment in many of tlio collieries, and interfered with' the railway traffic—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (llflc. September 24, 11 p.m.) London, September 24. The South Wales railway strike is spreading seriously, and includes Newport, Cardiff, Neatli, and Llanellj* Bailways. Interruptions are numerous, especially in the coal trado and main lines of passenger traffic. Mr. G. H. Thomas, M.P., has arrive at. Newport, and invited the men to attend a mass meeting, but the men refused. It is estimated that there wore several thousand strikers last night, increasing the number of idle colliers.—Aus.-N.Z.
