Mil. J. S. CONNETT THE GOVERNMENT CANDIDATE. It is announced definitely that tho Government nomine© for tho vacancy in tlio 'i'aranaki scat 4 caused by the dentil of tho Into Mr. H. J. H. Okey, is Mr. John S. Connett. In this caso the choice of a candidate rested with the lleform section of tho Cabinet, and it is understood that Mr. MacDonakl has assented on behalf of Sir Joseph Ward to tlio nomination of Mr. Connett. The candidate is a gentleman well known in the district, chairman of the council in his county Mid chairman of the A. and l>. Association, tho two most important bodies for farmers in tho district.
