After negotiating for sumo time with the owners, the Defence Department has decided to commandeer for a convalescent home for soldiers the building recently erected , 'for the Anglican Boys' Orphanage, a couple tff miles from Timaru, at a cost of about £15,000. The orphanage has been occupied a week by the boys.. Previously they were in a hired building. x Ino Government pays £800 a year, but this is inadequate, and the Red Cross and the War Relief Society add a joint donation of £200 !i year. .
