"TRIBUTE TO FRANCE"
HANDSOME DONATION FROM HASTINGS. Although Italy's claims for assistance are being closely pressed in Wellington at the present tune, those or France are not by any means iorgotten. A reminder that the public is still prepared to pay its tribute to Franco was forthcoming yesterday, when the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) announced that ho had received the sum of £1600 as Hastings' (Hawke 9 Bay) effort for France. This handsome donation was forwarded by the Hastings branch of the Women's National Reserve, with the names of Ladyltussell (president) and M. E. Keith (secretary) attached. Mr. Luke, as chairman of the executive committee of "Now Zealand's Tribute .to France, expressed his warm appreciation of tne Generosity of the Hastings people and the work of tho W.N.K, in that provincial centre.
