Mr. Fred Townsend, Mayor of Mirauiar, and Mrs. Townsend, will leave on a holiday trip to Sydney next week. During Air. Townsend's absence Mr. S. Underwood will be the Acting-Mayor. Mr. 0. B. Norwood was last, night appointed to represent the Wellington City Council on the Wellington Harbour Board. A former Mayor of Duncdin, Mr. J. 13. Shaddock, was a. guest at last night's meeting of the Wellington City Council. The death occurred on Tuesday sit his residence, Opawa, of Dr. W. 11. Tytheridgc, an old resident of Chnstchurch, in his 70th year. Tho Rev. H. 0. Hanby, vicar of Fairlie, has been appointed by the Military Affairs Committee Anglican chaplain of tho King George V Convalescent Hospital • and Church Institute at Rotorua. He will take up Ins duties early next month. Mr C. 0. Chapman, of Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland, died at his residence on Sunday at tho age ot 74. He was a native of "Weston-Super-Mcre, Somerset, England, in .vlnch town ho practised for somo years as a barrister. In ISBG ho camp to New Zealand, taking up his residence m Auckland, where ho jived ever since. He did not practiso in New Zealand.
