CAMP TRAINING
DECENTRALISED CONTROL. A notice in General Orders states that the Chief Infantry Instructor, Expeditionary Force Training Camps, is to be designated for the future Director of Infantry Training, N.Z.E.F. Reinforcements. The appointment is held by Colonel C. 11. Macdonald, C.M.G. This'change is understood to bo jinoutcome of the report of the'Defenco Commission. The commission recommended that the camp commandants and their staffs should havo full control of the training camps. It was considered that tho old system, under which the Chief of the General Staff controlled tho camps and visited them as occasion demanded, did hot give the best possible results. , The recommendations of the commission were considered recently by a conference of senior officers. This conference, it is reported, approved of tho suggested change with regard to the training camps. Tho camps in future will be fully controlled by the commandants, and the courses of training will be laid down by the chief instructors.
