Now York, September 7. News from an Atlantic - port states that two German U-boats, described as fishing craft carrying sails, were sighted off the coast. A British steamer narrowly escaped capture.. A French steamer fought off a U-boat after a battle lasting several hours—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aasn.
