The Kuddarl-l'arker steamer Hiverina is expected to arrive at Wellington about noon on Monday. She left Sydney at 3.30 p.m. o;i Thursday.

Messrs. Oathie, Dempster and Co. will, till 11 a.m. to-day, receive Lyttelton cargo for the Woo.tton.

Cargo for Timaru, Oamaru, and Bluff will be received till noon to-day by tho Te Anau.

Napier and Gieborne cargo shipped through Messrs. Johnston and Co. next woek will be token by separate steamers. The Koutunui loads for Gisborne and bays till noon on Tuesday, and the Ripple for Napier only the same day. With the lengthening of the days tho Lyttelton ferry steamers will, as from Monday, leave Wellington at 3.30 p.m.

Tho Wairau bar was crossable early yesterday morning for the first time In several days, letting tho Opawa pass out for Wellington. Messrs. hovin and Co. advertise that she is to sail for Picton with Blenheim cargo to-night.

With explosives to unload the schooner Huia dropped anchor in the stream at 2.45 a.m. yesterday, at the end of a good passage of thirteen days from Melbourne. Diechargo was started at Shelly Bay yesterday afternoon, and a portion of her cargo will be taken to the West, Coast in a few days. The Alexander is scheduled to sail for Nelßon and tho Coast,on Tuesday.

Messrs. Salmond and Spraggon announce that the Mana, en route from Wanganui to Lyttolton, i 3 to call at Wellington on Tuesday., and the 'i'ainui, from New Plymouth to Lyttelton, on Wednesday. General cargo from Bunedin is being brought here by the Union Company's Koromiko, which is to leave the Otago port to-day. Coal is being loaded into the Kini at Westport to-day for Wellington. The ship that ie well camouflaged, that has no maetfi or funnelp, that is driven by oil engines instead of steam, furnishes a poor target for the submarine (says tho "Popular Scionco Monthly" for July). It han been oetimated that if all trans-oceanic ships were thue disguised our enemies would need at least 50 submarines to patrol effectively a sea lnnc 500 miles wide. Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., who have boon appointed joint ngonts at Auckland of the Shaw, .Savill and Albion Steamship Company, are now the agents of tho company in every port in New Zealand. Mr. Dugald Campbell, of Port Chalmers, was engincer-commnndcr of the Vindictive at Zeebrugge, but eauic out of the "great go" without a scratch. He is at present in Glasgow superintending the installation of the engines in a new war vessel.
